Just finished sketching the serene Cobbs EH and canal, a hidden gem of industrial history! Did you know? The Netherton Canals, including this stretch, were built to ease congestion on the older Birmingham Canal Navigations. The Bumble Hole, ( fun fact my grand father and great grand father dug out the bumble hole forming a man mad redivide next to the canals . nearby, is a fascinating nature reserve that was once heavily industrialized, showing nature's incredible resilience. And Cobbs EH itself (they all chimney ) , now a shell of its former self but ? It's a rare example of a hydraulic engine house, designed to pump water between different canal levels. - also fun fact I used to ride my motor cross through the Cobbs EH in the early 90s . Different times . Haha
